Fallow ground

Jeremiah 4:3-4 says 3 For thus says the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem: “Break up your fallow ground, And do not sow among thorns. 4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, And take away the foreskins of your hearts, You men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, Lest My fury come forth like fire, And burn so that no one can quench it, Because of the evil of your doings.”

Throughout scripture God warns us many times to turn from our wicked ways. Wickedness is fallow ground. Disobedience is fallow ground. Bad things are happening to people everywhere. The enemy is running rampant and he’s trying to destroy as many as he can, because he knows the time is at hand and he is losing the battle. If you have sin in your life, I encourage you to ask God to come into your life and change you. We all want to be ready when Jesus comes back for His bride.

God is a jealous God, and all the idols that people put above God and are consumed by will have to go.

Jeremiah was called in his youth to deliver a message of doom to the stiff-necked people of Judah. He was despised and persecuted, and it grieved his heart that He had to do this; but he had to obey God. Some people believe God doesn’t deliver words of doom today, but it is in scripture. God has sent many messengers to warn the people just as He does today, because He loves us and He wants us to be in right standing with Him.

I pray that we see how important it is for us to live a godly life. God’s mercies endure forever to the righteous. Let us abide in God and He will abide in us. The only way to escape disaster in our lives is by us surrendering to God’s will. Let us be careful not to sow seeds into soil where nothing grows or springs forth into life. Fallow ground is plowed, but not planted. It lies dormant. May God help us, so our lives are fertile in Him.
