Forgivness is the highest form of love

Mark 11:25 reads “Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive Him or Her and let it (drop, leave it, let it go). In order that your Father who is in heaven may also forgive you your shortcomings (own) failings and let them drop.

Jesus disciples were familiar with this teaching on forgiveness, yet they still found it a challenge to walk it out at times as will we. Peter even asked Jesus a question that translates as such: “How many times must I forgive my brothers that sin against me? Seven times”’ Jesus answered him and simply said: seventy times seven.

You see Peter wanted to put limits on love and mercy, but Jesus said there are no limits on unconditional love. Love is limitless. Forgiveness is limitless. Forgiveness is the manifested mercy of God, which is what Jesus gives to us even though we do not deserve it. And He expects us to do likewise unto others as well. We must forgive quickly; let go and move forward. We must keep forgiving, and when we do this we are just being Christ-like. Through us showing forgiveness, we are acting out the word of God. We are showing the character of God. We are lining ourselves up with His word. God’s love is not based on feelings, but on a choice. We must make an intentional choice to obey God’s word and not go by our feelings. God’s love is unconditional, but our feelings are conditioned. As followers of Christ we must make a conscious decision to do as God’s word directs us. Forgiveness is the highest form of love, and Jesus has given us the example to follow. Jesus knows it’s a challenge, yet with His help we can do it. Therefore let us honor and glorify Him by obeying His word and not our feelings.
