Priced possessions

What is one to do?
When a hurricane comes
And takes away all our prized possessions?
What are you to do?
When you watch your car float away?
You watch your fridge, your bed, your sofa all float by as though a balloon in the water
You see your home logged with water, almost to the rooftop…

What are you to do when you saw your neighbor…
Yesterday….
And today no more
No more small-talk
No more sharing of lives
No more sharing of jokes
Just silence
In a swift shake of time
All changed
And those prized possessions ruined
Littering the floor
All wet
Defaced
Gone…

What do you do when all you have worked so hard to get, hold on to, have…
In a swift of a shake
Is no more
Because Harvey came…
Because Harvey was just too powerful
Just too ferocious
Just too much…
That it swept all you know and have away

And then you remember Psalm 121
‘I look to the hills from where my help comes from…’
And then you look to the hills…
Despite Harvey
Despite your prized possessions
You look to the hills
And God comes…and helps you
He gives you strength, courage, and the will to go on…
God will always come…
Because He is FOREVER faithful
Harvey or no Harvey
Let us look to the hills now…..
