Put your fleece out

Put your fleece out

We all come to a place in our lives when we must make decisions. We come to a place when we are faced with two, three or four choices. And we wonder which one we must take. Gideon was faced with decision-making in Judges 6. He was instructed to take the men of Israel to fight the great Midian army who were terrorizing them. They raided their sustenance and left them with nothing! Of course Gideon was young and felt young. He was ill equipped, and he knew it. He had little or no experience. And remember that the people were already afraid of the Midianites anyway; so there was no real palpable zeal to go out and fight with them. So Gideon was confronted with no good choices. When there are no apparent good choices, what are you to do?

Gideon hatched a plan; to let God lead. He craved for God’s opinion. Do you know that God has an opinion in everything that concerns you. He had a part to play.  Gideon said this in Judges 36-37: “If You will save Israel by my hand as You have said— look, I shall put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor; if there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said.”  Gideon wanted God to show him what to do. He trusted God to lead.

When you trust God, you will find the stamina in you to face the Midianites in your life. The Midianites were powerful and formidable. They were overpowering; but not for God.  They were menacing, but not for God. You do not have to make another wrong choice, put a fleece out today if you need to; but always follow the lead of God.
