The Rock of ages past

The Rock of ages past

I woke up this morning singing a song
He is my Rock of ages past
And the Rock today
He is the Rock by the shores of the seas
Where the seas have raged in the past
Lashed at Him with torrents and stripes
Roared with many waters
Foamed with angry jealous waves that broke the barriers
The lashings cursed at the strength that withstood them
The power that was matchless
The truth that cannot be made a lie
They pushed and tore at the Rock
But He is the Rock of ages past
Time has come and time has gone
He is the Rock in the desert place
Where the sun beat down as though beating at life
No water, no relief
The Rock stayed the same
In His faithfulness and stature
Stayed true to His power and love
Stayed true to His oath
He is the Rock of ages past
Time has come and time has gone
He is the Rock today
I stand on the Rock of ages past
Who stood and remains standing.
