When you are weak…

When you are weak…

I had a conversation with a wonderful woman not too long ago. She is studying to become a nurse. That and other demands calls for dedication and focus. She was to turn in a project like paper. This was very weighted and she had to do well. She pushed herself, and with sleepless nights eventually finished the work; on the day! And there she was thanking God for the victory He gave her over her work.

She decided to go to the university library and use the computer to look her work over for the last time before submitting it. She put her flash drive into the computer and got on with the task. Just then some of her classmates walked into the library, talking with her. As time wore on, she noticed she was getting late for her test, and so she hurriedly packed her stuff and left the library forgetting the flash drive with all her work behind! It took two hours, after the test, for her to remember that the work she was to submit seemed lost. She felt dejected. Ran to the library, the flash drive was gone! The time to submit the work was running out. And she overtaken by the weight of this seeming loss, mouthed, ‘Lord, glorify yourself!’ It was only moments later, she found her flash drive. Someone had taken it and kept it for her with a librarian. She was able to submit her work before the cut-off. She was so happy.

As she told me of her experience, I was reminded of that scripture in 2 Corinthians 12:9 which says, ‘9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. At that moment of loss, she was weak. In fact, very weak and dejected. But God promises us His grace. He promises us His strength. He promises us His strength to make those crooked things perfect. If you are feeling weak, and think things look imperfect in your life – and because of this you are losing hope – please don’t. God has already promised you His strength. He has promised you His grace. That promise is going to see you through, just as it did for this lady and she was able to recover all she had lost!

The Israelites in the Book of Exodus had escaped Egypt. God had given them a breakthrough! ‘Whoopi!’ They must have gone! And there was the Red Sea. Every joy evaporated. Every dream, gone! There are moments in life such as this when you rejoice and then things fall apart very quickly. Such instances are a bit of a shock. Moses tried hard to encourage the people to put their focus back on God. They were too animated by the Red Sea. It was an entire se!. And there was no other option. And yet we must know, regardless of how great the sea is, or loss is, or headache is – that grace that God gives is till sufficient for us. Yeah!
