How do I give thanks?

Psalm 100:1-5 tells us how to give thanks. It says: Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

You must make a joyful noise to the Lord. There are many different types of noise. A thanksgiving noise is different and unique. It is joyful; it is a well of joy; it is a well of thankfulness; it is a well of excitement; it is not a well of bitterness; it is not a well of pain; it is not a well of satisfaction. It is a well of gratitude. This noise makes a way for singing and praise. It makes a way for a joyful sound. From the hearts of His people, this noise declares that we belong to Him. ‘We are His!’ says the shout! We are the sheep of His pasture! We declare that He is good. His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness towards us is to all generation.’ Wow. What a shout we will make if are really His. What a life of thanksgiving we will have if we truly know Him; most especially since He does not change.

Yes, His presence. When you are giving thanks, you should go to Him, and draw close to Him. We are not to give thanks a mile off. We should be able to draw close to Him; tell Him how much we appreciate Him and love Him. In the time when the Israelites were in the wilderness, they feared to get close. They were not clean. To represent their cleanliness, God had asked them to wash their clothes, and stay away from being intimate with their spouses. Now, we do not have to wash our clothes to get close with God. Now, we can be intimate with our spouses, except we have specifically decided to stay away and set our minds on the Lord; for example, during a fast. It is all about the state of our hearts. If our hearts are right with God then we will draw near, and give our thanks. Then our thanks will flow from our grateful hearts. Then our thankfulness will be accepted by Him. I encourage you to do all of these this month of November.
