Let God fly you

I recently travelled to San Francisco to do a series of meetings. As I sat on the plane about to take off from San Francisco back home I watched the wing of the Boeing 737. The window seat afforded me such grace to see the wings close up. The wings were nothing but wonderful engineering design. This was purposed designing. The wings were to balance, glide, and propel forward. I looked around the aircraft; every aspect had been designed for purpose, comfort, and maximum potential income.

I pondered on God some more. He is the ‘Wing’. He is the One that carries our lives to where we must be. He balances. He glides. He propels. His wings are huge. His wings are protective. His wings sustain life. Do you remember that scripture in Psalm 108:13 which says ‘Through God we will do valiantly; for it is He who shall tread down our enemies.’ I saw the truth in that scripture in those wings. Through Him we shall fly!

I continued to watch the aircraft as it positioned itself on the runway about to take off. And as soon as it was time, it raced with all its might, and then pulled up, wings all extended! We have to pull up too! Pull up from all of the stuff! Pull up from those things that hold you back, so that you can fly. Pull up from disappointment, failure, pain, sickness, loss, anger; pull up on the Wings! The Wings of God!  You can’t take that stuff with you if you are going to get high and soar. I noticed that as the plane took off, it pulled its wheels in. It was committed to flying. We have to pull up our wheels, spread our wings and take off In God’s name. Do you want to soar? Then commit to God. Commit to His righteousness, holiness, love, His vision for your life. Pull up your wheel and stop relying on yourself.
