Are you using the wrong stamp?
The other day I came across a British stamp with the Queen’s head on it. It brought back memories. We had always bought a book or two of stamps. I always tucked them somewhere in my bag. This particular book must have hung around for twelve years; that is how long it has been since we had left England to be in the U.S. And so here it was in America! And then I wondered aloud what would happen if I mistakenly placed it on an envelope and put it in the post box here in the U.S.
It looked like a stamp; it was a stamp; but it was of a different country. And because of this small fact, it was null and void. It had no authority or value invested in it to carry my letter to the receiver.
We do this all the time. We send our prayers to our God, and expect Him to answer us. We could send our prayers to God in fear, doubt or faith. All of these are vehicles; but only faith is the right medium of prayer. Yes, because it encapsulates the power of God, and draws Him into our affairs. It turns His heart and beacons His love. Faith assumes that one has already received what one has prayed for; while stamps such as fear, worry and doubt belong to another kingdom. They belong to the kingdom of this world and won’t work in the kingdom of God. So regardless of how alike the stamps might be in size and color, they are totally different. Fear can never do what faith will do. And certainly doubt will never do either! The other day a lady asked me to pray with her about a particular matter that bothered her. I prayed and tried to steer her according to what God wanted for her; but she resisted due to lack of faith. Her stamp was all wrong. There was no point praying, because James 1:6-8 says this: But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. To paraphrase: those who doubt should not expect anything from God!
Unfortunately many people have posted their prayers with fear and doubt; and wonder why their prayers have not being answered. Well it is because they used the wrong stamp.
I pray that God will open our eyes and hearts, so we know which kingdom we belong to. The only working stamp in the kingdom of God is FAITH.
