Authority

The centurion in Matthew 8:5-10 said to Jesus that he was a man of authority, and that he knew how having authority works. When you have authority, it should work for you. The centurion said because of his authority over the regiment, soldiers obey his directives. When he says come, they come. When he says go, they go. They do this because of his authority. And because he believed in Jesus and understood the power of authority, he knew Jesus had even greater authority to heal, drive out demons, raise the dead etc. And because of Jesus’ authority and the faith he had in Him, he asked Jesus to heal his servant just by simply speaking the healing. The centurion did not need Jesus to lay hands on his servant, or to walk the distance home with him. He must have said something like this, ‘I know how authority works. When you say it, your authority gives the word power to be done. You don’t have to take a step when you have authority.’ Jesus was taken aback by the man’s faith. And of course the man’ servant became healed.

Do you believe Jesus has that same authority today? If so, don’t lose faith. Tell Him to say the ‘word’ on your behalf. And then watch the word performed in your life. Jesus does not have to come down from heaven to do what He has promised you. He just has to say the word.

Now think about this; not only does Jesus have the authority, you should walk in His authority as well. You can speak that word too! You can move mountains too. You can pray for the sick too. You can do all things through Jesus Christ too!
