Hurricane Matthew is here
Hurricane Matthew has wreaked a massive devastation on Bahamas and Haiti; and now it is heading to Florida. Already about 1000 people killed in Haiti. Matthew seems merciless; empowered by energy from the ocean, it is raging, overpowering and banding towards Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas to reap destruction.
May we remember Haggai 2:6-7 which says this: “This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the LORD Almighty.
Most times we are able to get on with our lives. We are able to go to work and head back home. Our kids go to school and after-school activities with no qualms. And then we run into such times when God shakes the heavens and the earth. We experience such times when the seas and the lands are shaken; in such times we come face to face with His indisputable power; such power that we have managed to ignore and overlook; we have resisted Him for so long. And then when He decides to shake, we pay attention and scurry around. We run to buy our generators, and torch lights, we get giddy with fright of the storm. We forget that He owns the storm and that the storm is powerless without God Himself. If and only if we would pay attention closely to Him; and listen to Him and obey Him; then our reaction will not be so fleeting.
What can we do to prepare for Hurricane Matthew?
We can get ready for whatever shaking their might be by getting our lives ready for God’s visitation in our lives. We must get ready. Just like we are getting our gasoline and filling up our cars; just as we are putting shutters on our windows and placing sandbags in front of our homes; we must get ready for God to come.
God will shake the nations. He will shake America. He will shake the heavens and the earth. He will shake the land and the waters. The shaking will express itself as a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, flood; whatever! Yes, God will. Nothing can save us from God’s hand except our obedience to Him. Many of us think we have time; until we see a hurricane or a flood – and then we realize we are not so strong.
Why do you not make a decision to prepare your life for Him today? And while we are doing this; I encourage you to stay safe and out of the way of Matthew. May God protect us all.
