I am blessed no matter what!

I had a wonderful reflection on the Bible Study we had last week at church. We spoke of the various distractions, circumstances that we face. We spoke of those things that we go through that often try to steal our joy and peace. We spoke of finances, and maybe times when finances were tight. We spoke of the acts of working so many hours in the day so as to make ends meet. We spoke of times when our bodies were weak and won’t function like we would want it. We spoke of the challenges of children and having to parent through it all.

And some who were in the study wondered about the blessings of God when we go through such times. ‘Are we still blessed when we go through hard times? Is God still with us?’ The teaching focused on David and his troubles; how he ran from place to place in the desert to get away from Saul, and even his son Absalom who wanted to kill him! Was God with him in those tumultuous times? Of course! David wrote most of his thoughts during this chaotic time of his life in the Book of Psalms. We see a man who was embattled, and yet who stuck with God through it all. His words in the Book of Psalms endear us to seek God in those challenging times. And even draw closer than before.

I guess the crust of it is to settle the matter in our hearts that we are blessed no matter what. Whatever state we find ourselves, we are simply blessed. Even when it seems the world is falling round our feet, we know we are blessed. I appreciate that this is a difficult thing to do for some, since the fiercest of battles make us question God’s love and promise at times. However God’s faithfulness and promise to us is rock solid. It is unbreakable and binding on God according to Jeremiah 1:12 . When we settle this infallible fact in our hearts that as a child of God we are blessed, then when those difficult times come, we do not lose our peace, because we know we are blessed and so every situation will have to be worked out on our behalf.

Please note this, we are not just blessed after the battle ceases, we are blessed before it, during it and when it abates. We are just blessed. That is your confidence. You are blessed and so God will help you and bring you through into an even better state on the other side.

What a glorious life we have in God, when we know for a fact that we are blessed no matter what. Amen!
