Do you want a full life?
‘I just can’t count my blessings. God made sure they were so many. He made sure they were abundant. He made sure they were overflowing.’ Abraham must have said this at some point in his life. Yes, because God blessed his socks off.
The Lord said to Abram in Genesis 15:5, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” Abram was to step outside and count the stars in the sky. God told him to count the stars; that as many as they were, so would be the number of children He (God) would give to Abram. Never mind that Abram was old, and his body was deemed dead. I bet he started counting, and in time his voice trailed off because the stars were just too many to count.
That is me, and I pray you also. Abram had to obey God. And as he obeyed his blessings kept coming. They came in many different ways. Of course his descendants, because through him all the nations were blessed. However the blessings had many other forms too: wealth, protection, peace, favor, long life etc. There are just so many facets to God’ blessings. You have a whole life. You have a satisfied life. You have a content life. You have a healthy life. God is a whole God. He makes sure all of your life is taken care of.
That is what I cherish. A whole life. The blessings of God flowing into every area of my life as Deuteronomy 28 says. I desire a fullness; an overflowing; a grandiose in God’s blessings.
Is it not imperative then that I be obedient to God? Why must I lose out on the many blessings that He has promised to release over my life? Why must my life be filled with strife, worry, bitterness, envy etc? Why must I stay in the place of empty when I can be in the place of fullness? Disobedience will empty you out and keep you empty. Why must I stay empty?
God always blesses obedience. And one of the signs of obedience is having a full life.
