What is a lie?
It is obviously the opposite of God’s Truth or a truth. We all know who the author of lies is, but he can camouflage his thoughts with your thoughts and cause you to doubt God’s goodness.
But how do we recognize a lie? You will know those thoughts that come and immediately make you wonder, fear or question your worth, circumstances or even promises the Lord has given you. Those thoughts are all lies.
The first key indicator would be if it brings fear, then it is a lie. We know that fear is not from the Father. Immediately take those thoughts captive and cast them down; and ask Father to replace it with thoughts of peace and joy.
Second, if the thought is negative and not good, then it too is not from the Father. For instance self-condemning talk: we can get off track with the Father at times because of the sudden things in life. We can also get off track when we haven’t spent as much time as usual in prayer, worship or His presence. It is so important to do the latter of these on a regular basis so when the “suddenly” happens, we are grounded in Him and His word. Unfortunately, when the sudden things of life happen, our thoughts become more carnal and the enemy takes advantage of times like this. I’m not saying you should deny a situation. What I am saying is speak the opposite of a detrimental situation and give life to true “Godly” statements.
Lastly, impure or unhealthy thoughts of harm or death are definitely from Satan himself. John 10:10 tells us that the thief only comes to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus came that we may have life, and have it more abundantly. The Father has a purpose and a plan for your life. He would never want you to deface or defile the temple He gave you. Or would He want you to take your life or another’s. He is a God of love and hope. Your thoughts must line up with His word, and if they don’t; then most likely they are lies. Lies lead us down a path that is hard to walk and inevitably leads to a road of sin and death. There is no life in a lie until you give permission to it. But the good news is that a lie or a life of lies is not irrevocable! Jesus came to set the captives free. Captives that are bound in their minds and hearts! All it takes is to have a heart of repentance and He will forgive you and set you on a path of life and truth! His truth! Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the Life!” The Way isn’t just a path, it is a person and Jesus is that person who will give you abundant life and not lies! Won’t you ask Him to help you decipher between the truths and the lies in your life? Won’t you repent and ask Him to bring clear truth to you? He is waiting to show you the path to life.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
2 Corinthians 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
John 10:9-10 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
