Love Overcame

Love Overcame

The truth of Easter is that love overcame. It is a bit like watching a wrestling match, where Good and Evil are at opposing sides of the ring This match cannot be a draw, it must be a knock-out and only a knock-out will do. And so, Jesus knew what was expected, because Evil was desperate. He was going to put up a show. He wanted to take all of humanity. He wanted to steal, kill and destroy. But for the love of God! Yes, praise God for the mercy of our King, and the enduring obedience of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is because of Jesus’ unwavering obedience to do the will of God that we reap the harvest of Easter. Easter really means that in that wrestling ring Jesus took every punch, every beating, and even death! He knew there was no other option, but to beat Evil to surrender. He paid the ultimate price to overcome. It was in His death that He knocked out Evil. Jesus made sure that Evil will never have the victory again..

This must be a lesson for us all most especially in this season. May we be intentional about a love that overcomes. This unique type of love must be who we are.

Do you have an overcoming love? A love that knocks out all hostility, malice, strife, back-biting, and all else. Do you love those who maybe do not deserve it? Are you intentional about loving others regardless of background, socio-status, race, creed, culture, etc.? How do we celebrate such love without becoming it? How do I celebrate this season without oozing with love and allowing it to flow through me to another?

I want to look in the mirror and see someone who loves like Jesus does. What do we see when we look in the mirror this Easter Sunday? A love that overcomes? I pray so.
