Seeking and hiding

It is said that actions speak louder than words. I agree with that in the natural but I believe the Word of God when brought forth with genuine love and power will always speak louder than actions, and it will stand.

Isaiah 40:8 gives us an example of this truth “The grass withers, the flower fades. But the word of our God stands forever.” If you couple the Word of God with actions, supernatural transformation can come. More word, more action; more hunger equals more of Him. When a heart is full of the word of God and His Spirit, sin cannot stay. Worldly thoughts cannot stay. Psalm 119:11 says “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” The word tells us in several places to fix our eyes and what to fix them on…

2 Corinthians 4:18 “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” Also Hebrews 12:2 says “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.” The Lord wants us to hide His Word in our hearts because they become the wellspring for life within us. They come to mind when we need them for instruction, direction and wisdom. They comfort us and others, and give us courage also. His words are life and should be as dear to us as our next breath. Hiding His word in our hearts is vital to living a victorious life.

For instance, have you ever stuffed your sock drawer so full it is overflowing and makes it difficult to shut? To be honest mine is at that point now. I keep shoving down those socks and personal garments to shut the draw. Every time I do that I say to myself “I need to clean this thing out”. Why don’t I just take the draw dump everything out and clean it out. There are items in there that don’t fit and that are old and worn. Sometimes I even hide treasures in that sock drawer. I need to clean out that drawer so I can see exactly what is in there and know what I have so I can access it and use it, especially the treasure. Think of that drawer as your mind and heart (spirit). The socks and garments are words of God and things of the world. Some need to stay and some need to go so you can make room for more of Him and His Word. The same goes for the word of God, our minds and spirits. The more you fill it up with selfish things of your choice it pushes the things that are most important at the front of your mind or “on top” to the back or bottom. We eventually forget about them until we dig deep or clean it out. What we focus on and fill our minds and spirits with is vital. Because what we put in will be what comes out. It has to be a continual process of emptying and filling with the Word of God and His presence. When you are continually abiding in Him the fruit of that will be produced. So on the other hand, whatever you are abiding in whether it be God or worldly ways that is the fruit you will produce. If we don’t continually seek Him followed by emptying and filling ourselves with Him and His word, then our lives will be out of sync with the Lord. When we lose sight of Him and the truth in His word then we cannot function properly in our calling and purpose for Him. Psalm 119:15 says “I will meditate on Your precepts and think about Your ways (16) I will delight in Your statutes I will not forget Your word.”

So just like that sock drawer, we need to empty, sort and find the treasure within. Getting rid of the things that don’t nourish and prosper us. Then keeping the things that do. Hopefully you will dig deep in your drawer(heart and mind) and pull out those things that are smothering the treasures in there. Maybe you are like me and need to do an overhaul of the whole drawer. Just purging it completely. I don’t want anything in my mind and heart that is not of Him. I lived the opposite of that for too long in my life and I don’t want to live like that again. His righteousness and Kingdom is truly all I want.

“More of You Lord I say, more of You”.
