The land of Moriah

The land of Moriah

I am going to focus you on Genesis 22:2-3:
Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go the to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.

That land of Moriah. Do you have such a land? Many will say, “Heh? Moriah? What is that?”

It is a significant land. It is an amazing land. A land that God dearly wants to show us. It is a land that God hopes we will obey and go to. It is a land where we take our Isaac. It is a land where He empties us out. It is a land where we will be changed; where we are ready to see the truth, glory and power of God. It is an amazing land where you lift up your hand to kill what you love to get what loves you. It is a land where you walk arduously for 3 days. Where you keep walking though you do not understand. Moriah is a land where you keep walking towards though you know you will be coming back without yourself, because you would have given yourself over by the time you leave Moriah. Moriah is a place where you will be revived, visited by God, hear an angel’s voice. Moriah is a place where there is a ram in the bush. And when all is said and done, when you have given your last, a ram appears to satisfy your thirst.

Do you have a land of Moriah? God is taking ALL those who call Him Lord to Moriah. It is there that the test is perfected. If God could test Abraham, He would test you also. Will you pass the test?

I pray so. Get ready for your land of Moriah. Be like Abraham, who saddled his donkey, took two men to help with the three day journey and his son Isaac – heading for Moriah. He was going to sacrifice his son, whom he loved to obey His God. Are you able to obey God this closely? What is your sacrifice?

Now I must finish on this: two things are key at Moriah. You need fuel such as fire and wood; then you need a knife. A fuel is also faith that takes you and keeps you doing the perfect will of God. You need a knife to cut your flesh. It does not sound nice does it? Many Christians are fire-less, wood-less, knife-less. You need all three and faith my friend. You need all three and your heart!
