When to run…

Running away from something is usually considered as cowardly, but the Bible tells us to flee from away anything that will tempt us to sin.

Wise people do realize that removing themselves physically from temptation is often the most courageous action to take. Paul warned Timothy to flee from anything that produced evil thoughts. So how about us?

We as believers must do the same. Do you have a recurring temptation that you find difficult to resist? We must physically remove ourselves from any situation that will stimulate our desires to sin. I believe most of us as Christians think we can withstand the pull to sin. We think we are stronger that we are. We think we can handle all things! They refuse to run; rather they almost dare the situation to come along. Almost like you having a sweet tooth, and egging an ice cream truck to pull into your driveway!

So where should we run? Knowing when to run is as important in a spiritual battle as knowing when and how to stand and fight. As the children of God, it is our responsibility to keep our connection with the Father healthy. We must resist the temptations to put people, work, or other pleasures ahead of the Father. The enemy of our soul will always try to make other things seem more important than us building a solid relationship with the Father. We must remember that relationships thrive with consistent interaction but wither if they are neglected. Flee temptation and run close to the Father; stay close to Him and the sway of the world though there always, the Lord will help us. The Holy Spirit is our keeper; our sustainer; He will help us stand firm and strong. We must with the help of the Holy Spirit keep our selves pure so that sin and its consequences do not get in the way of what the Father wants to do in our lives. My heart cries everyday to the Lord, ‘help me in the hour of temptation and keep my feet from evil.’ Let this be your heart’s cry, and be sure and confident that the Father will hear. Always remember that our spiritual growth is a lifetime walk with the Holy Spirit. He knows how to do His job. Never forget the reality of our Christ and His great love for us. Many times He will use us other’s lives to restore back to the narrow path. His ways are always best, and Christ’s return is more than a doctrine; it’s a sure promise to us. Praise the Lord for His finished work!
