Where are you God?

Where are you God?

Where are you, God?

I watched the news regarding the migrant children today. No matter why and what and who; I watched them and I cried again. Children are particularly vulnerable. They are very vulnerable, especially if they are situated in a poor home. And yet as vulnerable as they are, Jesus says of them in Matthew 18:2-5 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

To be honest, I have been thinking of late about so many things. I have been praying a lot also about so many things. I have been staying up and bringing the instances of the chaos I see to God.

At times I say, ‘God where are you?’

And yet I hear the Holy Spirit speak softly, ‘I am here. I see and I know.‘ I wonder about why He is so near and yet the chaos we see in this life continues. I am a mother. I sense pain when I see it in a child. Pain in a child is awful. I thank God by His nature, God will help these children. Lord, thank You for answering their plea. Lord, thank You for having mercy. Lord, You are God. Lord, please pick them up and let them know they matter. Let them know You made them in your image and likeness. Let them know Your love. Lord, write their story. Let it be good. Let it be wonderful,. Lord. You said You will not forget them. Lord, send help to them. Lord, restore their families. Lord, give them long lives. Lord, shower them with peace. Lord, glorify Your name today. Amen.

In the above scripture, Jesus asks us to become like a child. It is amazing that children are vulnerable and can’t really determine their lives – they rely on others to do it for them. In this context, Jesus was asking us to be like a child, and be vulnerable to Him, and allow Him to determine our lives. In our vulnerability, He will protect us. He will protect these children also, because they are dear to Him. And because God is so invested in us – He asks us to JOIN with HIM and welcome the children. He says whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. I pray in my heart that this is what I will do. AMEN.
