Let us make an appeal to the Lord

In 1 Kings 17, Elijah made an appeal for a young boy who had just died. He said to the Lord ‘O Lord my God…’ What an appeal. Elijah took the boy from his widow mom, and took the boy to God. He could not do anything about the problem. He could not wake the child up. He could not comfort the mother. He could not do anything in and of himself. And so he made an appeal to God who can.

Many times we cannot do anything about our situation. We cannot wake what is dead. We cannot heal what is sick. We cannot supply what is finished. We cannot add a day to our lives. We cannot make a way for ourselves. We cannot bring water out of our rocks.

But if we know how to go to the Rock! Wow! What a great victory we will have.

That is what Elijah had. He knew how to go to the Rock. Not only did he know how to go to the Rock, He knew the Rock is the Rock. And He knew the Rock could do the impossible. And so He made an appeal to the Rock with total commitment to the fact that the Rock can do what he was asking. Many of us ask God for something, and yet within us, we wonder if what we ask can or will be done. We wonder because all seems impossible. But this was not the case for Elijah. He had total commitment that God could do it.

Do you have this total commitment also? It is when we have this total commitment, with no doubt when we make our appeal, that we see the miracle, the divine hand, the dead rise right before us.

Let us make an appeal today for the impossible things. Don’t be driven into silence because of the immense mountain before you. Don’t be driven into subjection to unbelief. Make an appeal to the Rock. He is still able to do divine things today for you and your family.
