When opportunity knocks

When opportunity knocks

Sometimes, fate plays a cruel trick on us from the beginning, but what matters most is the outcome of our faith.
One of my favorite books in the Bible is Esther. Esther was a young girl who lost her parents at a very young age. Fortunately, she had one relative living, a cousin named Mordecai. Mordecai was a honorable name who took her in and raised her as his own daughter. Now you must remember that Mordecai was a Jew from Jerusalem taken in to captivity by the king of Babylon.

In spite of his own circumstances, Mordecai did not run from his own responsibilities when things were not going well in his own life. I would say he was a very noble man to take that on.

Many of us today want to run when the going gets tough. I believe Mordecai did not lose heart but believed in his heart there were greater things yet to come. I believe he must have been thinking in his heart, ‘there’s got to be more to life than this and when the opportunity arose, he jumped on the band wagon. How many of us today grab hold of opportunities that come our way or ignore them and never wonder why things never change for the better?

Now in those days, King Ahasuerus ruled and reigned over India unto Ethiopia. He was married to Queen Vashti, who disobeyed his orders and humiliated him in from of all his people. He became very wrought with her and confiscated all of her estate to give to another. We must be very careful of our actions, they can be very costly. After this, King Ahasuerus sent letters to every household in all his provinces, seeking fair, young virgins to come before him. Can you imagine the joy that must have leapt in Mordecai when he received his letter! I am sure Mordecai saw an opportunity of a lifetime flash before his very eyes, because Esther was very beautiful to look at. Mordecai wasted no time in encouraging Esther to appear before the king.

Do you believe in your heart that there is someone who cares about you and wants to give you a better life? We all want a prosperous and full life. God is the only One that can give us a better life without sorrow. James 1:17 says every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.

God wants to bless you; He wants to lavish good and perfect gifts on you. He will open doors for you that man cannot shut. He will make a way when there seems to be no way. I challenge you to open up your heart and receive for your own good as you put your trust in Him. Open the door to your opportunity today.
