In Mark 10:51 blind Bartimaeus called out to Jesus, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.’ Those around him frowned him to keep quiet, Jesus the son of God was near. He was unashamed. He cried out the more. Such that Jesus asked them to call Bartimaeus to Him.
When he came to Jesus, Jesus asked him this one question. ‘What do you want Me to do for you?’ That is my Jesus! What a thrill! What a beauty! ‘What can I do for you?’ Say it Jesus! I have a million things Lord that I want you to do for me! And yet only one comes to mind now Jesus. I want to know You more Jesus!
Jesus is ready to do something for you today. He is ready to change your life. He is ready to give you the very thing you need. He is ready to set you on the right path. He is ready to bring you out of your rot. He is ready to open your eyes. He is ready to wake your dead parts up. He is ready to turn your mourning into dancing and your water into wine. A few months ago I had learnt of a dear brother who was being persecuted by adverse claims his college had made against him. This decision would rob him of what he had worked many years to achieve. And there like a puff of smoke, it would all disappear. And yet the Lord told him not to panic, that He would fight for him. And so in this I hear Jesus saying to this dear brother, ‘What do you want Me to do for you?’ This man wanted to be saved from the power that be. Thank God there is no power greater than our God’s. This man had to have faith despite the Goliath that stood before him. His faith was at work. His faith was the vehicle that would bring God’s power down on the college and revoke decisions made that were contrary to him. And just this night I got news that Jesus had done it. He had saved the man. He had delivered him. He had raised the dead thing from the tomb. He had made a way where there was no way. He had given hope. He had given peace. He had taken away the strain.
Jesus said to Bartimaeus, ‘Your faith has made you whole.’ He said to the woman with the issue of blood, ‘Your faith has made you whole.’
What is your faith doing for you today? Your faith in God is the strongest asset you have. Your faith can have extraordinary consequences; extraordinary outcomes. Your faith is not meant to simply bring mediocre results. It is supposed to bring freedom. Your faith in Him should set you free! Are you free? If so, great news! Tell someone else about it. If not, then shout even louder than Bartimaeus. Don’t let anyone or anything quieten you. Yes, they will try to quieten you. Society will tell you not to have such lofty ideals. But you can. You must have faith for the extraordinary; because we have an extraordinary God. Not only that, we have a God who loves us.
And so like the woman with the issue of blood and Bartimaeus, use your faith today!
