Let God start
‘Start what?’ someone might ask. Let God start something in your life. We are so used to starting things ourselves. We think of an idea and start a business; we start a course; we start a marriage; we even start a family and give birth to our children. The work of a man can indeed birth many things, but God can start much more also. He is the beginning and the end. God knows how to start things and He knows how to end things. The certain thing is He ends well.
Most things we have started and not been able to end. We start the year with new year resolutions that by the 2nd week we cannot keep. We start a weight loss exercise and stuff ourselves with our cravings the next bad day we have. We start a new job, and walk out the moment our boss corrects us. We start to attend bible study until the pastor touches a nerve. We start a business and the moment we hit a dry patch, it stops being a good idea. We start many things and yet allow those great ideas to die in a grave.
So what is different about what God starts? The grace to finish is always given. We have to know the heart of God. We have to walk according to His will for us. We have to be committed to what He has called for us. We have to learn to persevere. We have to be able to go into the deep for the promises of God in our lives. God is real. He is faithful. He is powerful and sufficient. He is the beginner and the end. He is both at once, and so you can bet that He knows how to finish also.
The problem is we always like to start something and ask God midway to help us finish it. He is faithful and will help because it does not please Him that we suffer. But it is best you get God’ grace first.
Is God’ grace in what you are doing? If not, then stop and ask Him if He wants you to continue. At times it might be that God wants you to do something else, or He wants you to go somewhere else, or maybe the time is not right for you to walk into what you are asking of Him. That is why it is important that you ask God to show you His plan for you.
I don’t really see many people asking God to start something in their lives. And why? We proudly believe we are so smart that we are able to do things ourselves. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us of a truth: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. February 2019 must be a new season for you. I pray it is. I pray above all that you will trust in the Lord and not lean on your understanding so that the grace of completion can be operational in your life in Jesus’ name.
