The truth will cost you
I see the reason why many people are not so fast to tell people the truth. They often hold the truth back even though they know that the truth is what will set people free.
Could it be that it is safer not to tell the truth to others anymore? If you want to keep your friend, maybe you dare not rock the boat!
And yet what type of friend will we be, if we cower and do not speak the truth. If you had a friend who worked in an office, and habitually took her company’s stationary as hers and brought them home, would you tell her to check her ways that she was stealing? If you had a friend who always gossiped and spoke of others in a negative way, would you tell her to stop gossiping? Even though that might bring your friendship to an end? What if you had a friend who always put her husband down and spoke of him in a way that made you cringe, would you tell her to lift her husband up? What do you do if you have a friend who always complains of lack, and yet blows her salary the minute she gets it? What would you tell such a friend who always wants you to go on a girl’s night out or who wants to buy an outfit every week, though her husband is working like a horse and they have no money? About a friend who allows her children to watch TV all day; most especially inappropriate programming for the sake of her having peace and quiet; can you tell such a person the truth?
Now can you imagine a truth saying pastor? If your pastor spoke pointed truth to you, could you accept it?
Unfortunately many believers cannot accept the truth. We have a lot of running Christians, because to stay in His truth must bring a change. Sadly I have found that many do not want the truth. And because of this horrible truth, many believers are not free. They are always running away from the truth.
I encourage you today to be a truth-sayer; even if you lose a relationship.
Many churches struggle to see growth in numbers because the pastor has stuck with the truth; the moment they let truth slide, the church will be full again! What a shame!
May we be truth lovers in Jesus’ name.
