What happens when this is the last day?

We are watching another hurricane charging down the barrel with wind, water and a promise of tragedy. Irma has blasted many countries, torn buildings down, destroyed lives. A little before Irma, we saw hurricane Harvey ruthlessly submerge Houston Texas. We are living in very perilous times.

I watched as the governor of Florida spoke to his residents yesterday He said these words, and they truly sounded menacing: Be prepared. Protect your family. You can’t be saved when the storm starts. Your state after the storm will be determined by the decision you have made before the storm hit. Listen to officials. If you live in a zone that has been determined for evacuation, get out! We cannot protect you in the middle of the storm.’

Wow! What a declaration. As I watched him speak, I felt like we have been hearing this message for a while now. It sounded like a get your life in order message, because the day of the Lord is almost upon us. Today it is a hurricane, tomorrow it just might be the last day. And so Governor Scott seemed to me to be another mouth asking us to get our lives in order. And I do not mean buying bottles of water, buying plywood to board windows and doors, getting sandbags. Because these things cannot stop God when the Last Day is here! The trumpet will sound, and then there is no inner room; there is no wine cellar bunker like Sir Richard Branson had in his private island; and certainly no school halls to accommodate the displaced. There is just simply no saving then. No paramedics, police or fire personnel. They will also be caught up in their own Last Day scenario. And so these calls are endearing us to get ourselves together, and prepare ourselves for the big day!

Prepare yourself for the BIG Day, do not delay. Instead of getting your house boarded, get your heart right with God. Get your character in line with God’s righteousness and holiness. Get your conduct in line with what pleases Him. That is how to get ready for the Last Day!

All these floods, hurricanes, earthquakes are reminders that we get ourselves ready for a LAST DAY that will indeed come. And on that day there will be no saving more to be done! All the saving would have come before.
