What will I render?
This is a question that we must find ourselves asking the Father – ‘What shall I render to You?’
A few weeks back this question kept coming to my heart. So I decided to look at it a little more closely. I began by looking up the meaning of the word ‘render’. Here are a few equivalents: to provide service or give help to someone or something; to express; to show or perform something in a particular way and to display or manifest; to make something or someone become something.
So what shall we render to God for all His wonderful blessings to us? What shall we give to Him? Or what can I do for Him? The answer is true and simple, the only thing we can truly give to God is our bodies and our souls; our complete selves. That’s what the Father wants of us. The Bible says in Psalms 24:1 The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it; the world and they who dwell in it; for the whole earth is the Lord’s and everything that is in it.
The whole world belongs to God. He is the creator of the soil and earth, therefore He is the proprietor. We were made from the soil, therefore anything we make by production of our hands or of our labor or skill, what we claim as our own and we feel we have a right to use or dispose of as we choose all really belong to God. We must remember that any and all rights which we as humans have, is truly and in reality subordinate to the claim that God has and we should be yielded up to Him at His bidding. So because He has everything and everything belongs to Him, and so any service I give, I truly couldn’t give it without Him or His help. There is no way I can express, show or perform any deed without Him. There is no display or manifest that we can do and there’s no becoming you or me without Him.
Romans 12:1-2 says it plainly: Therefore brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the good pleasing, and perfect will of God.
We must simply render ourselves to Him, and He will help us to become. He is Creator and governor of it all; it is His own property. We as humans may claim districts and kingdoms as our property, but in truth God almighty is Lord of it all. He gives us everything and we simple give it back to Him through our praise and worship.
What shall I render to Him? Simply myself. LORD, I give myself away in Jesus name.
