God is our GPS

Many people depend on their GPS to navigate life for them. The GPS on our phones guides us to restaurants, theatres, job interviews , hospitals, etc. All we need is a destination address, and then we will be fine. We listen out as our phones tell us to turn right and left. And in times when we have gone too far, we listen as our phone says those words, ‘Re-routing…take a u-turn…’ Only a few days ago, my husband and I were given a particular address to check out a vehicle for our son. We were in the vicinity of the address, and yet the system kept on redirecting us. We eventually gave up. It turned out that the initial address was wrong in the first place.

God should be the GPS of a Christian. Scripture says He is the lamp over our feet. In a case where God is the GPS of our lives, then the system is not as rigged. We do not come up with a destination before we start. We accept the destination He gives us. We accept and follow the instructions, ‘Turn right, turn left, wait, wait, continue waiting, stop…’ All such instructions have to be followed. You will find that because God is a true Light upon your feet, there is no re-routing in God’s vocab; however when we turn to our own way rather than His, then we will hear those words, ‘re-routing.’

Do you find that when you re-route, you lose ground, you lose time and become frustrated. That is what disobedience does to us. That is exactly what it did to the Israelites in the wilderness. They re-routed for forty years. The journey should have taken them 4o days; but they re-routed and re-routed and re-routed Look at how much ground they lost simply for re-routing.

What is your life filled with? Re-routing or obedience? God is our GPS. He will lead; but you must follow.
