Having an expectation…

I was reading Psalm 27:14 which says Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!
This passage is imploring us to wait on the Lord. Why wait, when what you need is now? Why wait? Especially when the matter is pressing and you just can’t cope. You might feel you are justified if you can’t wait, because waiting seems detrimental. But it is beneficial for you to wait.

At times we wait on our family members for a life time and it yields nothing. We wait for a job promotion that never comes. We wait for a favor that never materializes. But waiting on God is different. Even in the eleventh hour, waiting on God cannot be deemed futile.

Waiting on God is special, and for those who will bring themselves to a place where they wait in God, then they are the victors. Yes, they have won in their waiting. They have carried the spoils in their waiting. They have seen the victory in the waiting.

Now how we wait also matters. We have to wait with ‘good courage’. We have to wait with a knowing expectation that God will not fail. A lot of us tend to with in exasperation, confusion, disappointment, even fury. We wait in disdain. We wait angrily. That is not how to wait on the Lord. Have you ever seen people in traffic, hooting away, banging on their steering wheel all because they are held up in traffic. They work themselves up, curse at the other drivers, rage and roll their eyes. And for what? All because they have been held up in traffic for a few minutes. How will such a person be able to wait on the Lord? When you wait on the Lord, do it with courage and expectation. Wait as though you know God is God. Yes, as though you know Jesus is Lord. Wait as though you have already attained; already gotten hold of; already seen the finish line. Yes, you haven’t seen it, but you know God has seen it. And because you know He has, you trust Him for His faithfulness.
So my question is this, how are we waiting on the Lord?

Lately I have been waiting on the Lord. Waiting on God to move; to make a way; to talk to me; to draw closer; to know Him more. These are wonderful times. I wait expecting. I wait encouraged. Thank God that He strengthens me as I wait. I have no complaints in waiting.

I pray you do not murmur; just simply wait on the Lord.
