I am a Samaritan woman

I am a Samaritan woman

This woman is my sister
My mother
My friend
Even me

She had made many mistakes
Had many men
Had many husbands
In fact five times
She was with another man
Probably slept with him
With no promise of marriage

How many of us make such mistakes?
Make such calculations?
Or no calculations at all
We just want to be loved

Yet when Jesus’ followers were away
Jesus went looking for her
By the well
In her lifestyle
He still went looking

For the woman
For a woman
And promised to give her
Water
That will forever spring in her life

The followers were mad as hell
Because He spoke to a woman
Who was a Samaritan
But Jesus knew
Why He came

For the woman
For a woman
For a Samaritan woman
Who had had five husbands
And probably engaged in sexual relations
With another man
Who was not even her husband
And yet Jesus went
Looking for her
Yes!
