Look at the bird

Look at the bird

We were taking our children to school this morning. And I began to think of God’s promises and provision. I asked God to provide for His church; our family; people in the church etc. I thought of our daily needs; and then the season, and the pile on which this brought. I thought of God’s goodness and His love towards us.

I was still meditating and looked up to the sky, when I saw a bird glide past. It was at the right place at the right time. I was reminded of Matthew 6:26 which says Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns — and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Maybe we should look into the sky more often, and let God speak to us as He may. Maybe we should look away from all our cares and look at what He is able to do for us; remember that He loves us. The bird was gliding around, not giving its life a thought; not giving its next meal a thought; not giving its protection a thought. It just knew that all will be met; though it did not sow, reap or gather.

I am more that the bird. And so is my family; and all God’s children. We are more than the bird. He will take care of all our needs. Indeed Psalm 65:9-10 says of Him – You visit the earth and water it. You greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water. You provide their grain. For so You have prepared it. You water its ridges abundantly. You settle its furrows. You make it soft with showers. You bless its growth. That is what our God will do for us.

And so look at the bird and see God water your ridges and settle your furrows.
