The deflated bouncy

I watched as the bouncy castle we had ordered for a children’s event was being installed. The men were very professional, and very quickly laid the fabric out and began the pumping machine to pour air into the castle. In a while, the unshaped material began to take shape. The air began to give structure to this material, and in time it became sturdy, such that the children could jump on it, tumble on it, and play with no caution. Why? Because the air that had been pumped into the material now was the strength on which all those who will play on the castle would have to rely on.

However as quick as it was erected, so was it brought down, after the event! I watched again as they let air out of the castle; slowly, not instantly, slowly, this castle began to lose shape. You will not know it quickly, but in time, it lost such shape and strength and character; that it looked nothing like the castle that stood only moments ago. All the air was let out, and there it went, on the floor. No child could play, lay or tumble on it any longer. Why? Because the strength that made it function and capable has been leaked out! The children could not trust it to hold them any longer!

I feel like when we do not obey God, when we go our own way, we let the air of God leak out of us. It might leak out gently, but it is leaking out. And because the leak is gentle, we do not see how changed we are becoming to the original form. We think we are okay, but we really are not! We have to get back with God! We have to cry out for the infilling again! Cry out every day for an infilling, so that you do not become like that castle that lost total shape, strength and purpose. Note, we do not only lose shape in our disobedience to God; we lose our purpose also.
