What is your confession?

Two people can see the same thing and yet have different reports. Joshua, Caleb and ten other men were sent to spy out the land of Canaan that God had given to the people of Israel. Moses was very thorough in the task he gave them. Numbers 13:17-19.

You will be surprised how two people seeing the same thing can interpret the situation differently because of the level of their faith. Faith is the basis for how we think and  what we say. With your heart you believe and with your mouth you confess. If you don’t believe you can’t have a strong confession. And so Moses in obedience to God sent 12 men out to spy out the land of Canaan. They did and came back with such huge fruit that one man could not carry. They all affirmed that the land indeed flowed with milk and honey; they affirmed that the land was fruitful. But without faith, what is good can be bad when you think of what you have to do to get where God wants to take you. More so if there are evident obstacles in the way. God was taking them to possess the land of the children of Anak, who were huge and fierce. Unfortunately the men could not get past the men of Anak, they saw themselves at a disadvantage and regardless of God’ promises, they believed they would fail. Joshua and Caleb saw different. They said ‘if God is pleased with us, He will give us the land. Only do not rebel against God nor fear the people of the land,’

Wow! If God is pleased with us! Remember that without faith we cannot please God, and the only way we can attain is by pleasing God. It is really a cycle. Have Faith in God, you please Him. You please Him, you will receive His promise.

The other day I listened to my son testify to receiving God’ promise. Believe me , it is a big deal and did my heart good because God confirmed His word in his life. He did what He promised that He would do. The enormity of what God did is still sinking in. Also, the fact that He was pleased with our son and blessed him was also a blessing to watch.  Above all, to hear our son testify and see his faith rise as he spoke, was uplifting also. I can only thank God that in the thick of our seeking and waiting; we kept our faith and confession. Yes, there were times that I cried unto the Lord shouting ‘come Lord.’ Yes, many times! Many times than I can count. However, during this time, I also thanked Him and often remembered what He had done in the past. My heart stayed on God, looking at Him to do what only He can do again.

I thank God that He has opened our son’ eyes to see His great deeds. And so His confession has become ‘God can do it again. Amen.
